Description
Solar stray light corrected, radiometric calibrated, and geometric distortion corrected image data in reflectance units acquired by the OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft. The dataset covers the period from 2014-09 02 to 2014-09-23, with the prime target being comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This version V1.0 is the first version of this dataset, corrected after an external peer review in October 2018.
Use Cases
Analyze comet surface morphology and albedo based on calibrated reflectance data.
Train machine learning models for feature detection on comet surfaces using processed image data.
Conduct temporal analysis of comet 67P's surface changes during the pre-landing mission phase.
Validate geometric correction and radiometric calibration algorithms for spaceborne imagery.
Strengths
Data is processed to CODMAC level 4, indicating solar stray light correction, radiometric calibration, and geometric distortion correction.
Covers a specific 21-day observation period from 2014-09-02 to 2014-09-23.
Produced by NASA and has undergone an external peer review process, as indicated by the version V1.0 description.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count, file formats, and dataset size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
