Description
Solar stray-light corrected, radiometric calibrated, and geometric distortion corrected image data acquired by the OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft. The dataset covers the period from 2014 09 23 to 2014 10 24, with the prime target being comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This V1.0 version is the first release of this dataset, produced by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
Use Cases
Analyzing comet surface morphology and activity based on calibrated, high-resolution imagery.
Studying temporal changes in comet 67P's nucleus and coma during the pre-landing mission phase.
Developing computer vision models for feature detection on small solar system bodies using corrected image data.
Validating photometric models using radiometrically calibrated data in W/m^2/sr/nm.
Strengths
Data has undergone multiple correction processes: solar stray-light, in-field stray-light, radiometric calibration, and geometric distortion correction.
Covers a defined temporal range of approximately one month during a critical mission phase.
Produced by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and is version V1.0, indicating a formal release.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
