Description
From October 24, 2014 to November 21, 2014, the OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft acquired calibrated image data of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This dataset contains solar stray-light corrected, in-field stray-light corrected, radiometric calibrated, and geometric distortion corrected images in units of W/m^2/sr/nm. It is a CODMAC level 4 data set produced by NASA and represents the first version (V1.0) following an external peer review.
Use Cases
Analyzing comet surface brightness and albedo based on radiometric calibrated intensity values.
Studying comet morphology and topography using geometric distortion corrected images.
Modeling stray-light effects in spaceborne imagery based on the described correction processes.
Tracking changes in comet 67P's activity during the specified prelanding mission phase.
Strengths
Data is corrected for solar stray-light and in-field stray-light, enhancing accuracy.
Images are radiometric calibrated and geometric distortion corrected, providing standardized physical units.
Coverage spans a defined period from 2014-10-24T10:00:00.000 to 2014-11-21T23:24:59.000.
Dataset is versioned (V1.0) and has undergone an external peer review process.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
