Description
NASA's CODMAC level 4 dataset contains solar stray light corrected, radiometric calibrated, and geometric distortion corrected image data from the OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft. The data, measured in W/m^2/sr/nm, covers the period from 2014-10 24 to 2014-11-21 during the PRELANDING mission phase, targeting comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This V1.0 version is the first release, corrected after an October 2018 external peer review.
Use Cases
Analyze comet surface albedo and reflectance properties based on radiometric calibrated imagery.
Study the morphology and geological features of comet 67P based on geometric distortion corrected images.
Model solar illumination and scattering effects on cometary nuclei based on solar stray light corrected data.
Validate and develop remote sensing calibration pipelines based on the described CODMAC level 4 processing.
Strengths
Data is processed to CODMAC level 4, indicating solar stray light correction, radiometric calibration, and geometric resampling.
Covers a defined observation period from 2014-10-24 to 2014-11-21.
Dataset version V1.0 indicates a formal release following an October 2018 external peer review.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
