Description
From September 23, 2014, to October 24, 2014, this dataset contains georeferenced images of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko acquired by the Rosetta spacecraft's OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera. It is a CODMAC level 5 derived data product with pixel-precise georeferencing information, produced by NASA. This is the first version (V1.0) of the dataset, corrected after an external peer review in October 2018.
Use Cases
Generate high-resolution surface maps of comet 67P based on georeferenced imagery.
Analyze comet nucleus morphology and surface feature evolution during the pre-landing mission phase.
Perform photometric modeling of the comet's surface using calibrated, georeferenced image data.
Support landing site analysis and mission planning for cometary exploration based on derived geospatial products.
Strengths
Data is georeferenced with pixel-precise accuracy, enabling precise spatial analysis.
Covers a defined one-month observation period from 2014-09-23 to 2014-10-24.
Dataset has undergone an external peer review process, as indicated by the version description.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
