Description
OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera images of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, acquired by the Rosetta spacecraft from May 3 to May 31, 2016. This uncalibrated data set in DN units was produced by NASA and updated in version 3.0 following external peer reviews, with improvements to documentation, ancillary files, and image quality handling.
Use Cases
Analyze comet surface morphology based on uncalibrated image data
Study temporal changes on comet 67P based on images from a specific mission phase
Validate image processing algorithms based on documented data quality issues like shutter backtravel
Correlate observational data with other Rosetta mission instruments based on the prime target focus
Strengths
Data covers a specific temporal window from 2016-05-03T23:25:00.000 to 2016-05-31T23:24:59.000
Version 3.0 includes updates from external peer reviews and improved documentation
Image headers include updated DATA_QUALITY_ID keyword for quality assessment
Limitations
Data is uncalibrated (DN units), requiring further processing for scientific analysis
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment

Source
National Aeronautics and Space Administration
Collection Method
Acquired by the OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft.
