Description
Radiometric calibrated image data in W/m^2/sr/nm, acquired by the OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft. The dataset covers the period from 2016-03 08T23:25:00.000 to 2016-04-05T23:24:59.000, targeting comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This version V3.0, delivered by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, includes corrections from 2018 peer reviews and improved calibration for ballistic mode images.
Use Cases
Analyze cometary surface morphology and changes based on calibrated wide-angle camera imagery.
Study comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko's activity and outgassing patterns during the 2016 mission phase.
Validate or improve radiometric calibration models for space-based instrumentation.
Perform photometric analysis of cometary nuclei using data in physical units (W/m^2/sr/nm).
Strengths
Data is radiometrically calibrated to physical units (W/m^2/sr/nm), enabling quantitative scientific analysis.
Version V3.0 incorporates corrections from July and October 2018 external peer reviews, suggesting rigorous quality control.
Documentation includes a user guide with FAQ and image data quality sections, and a bandpass filter document.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment for large-scale statistical analysis.
