Description
Radiometric calibrated image data from the OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft, measured in W/m^2/sr/nm. The dataset covers the PRELANDING mission phase from September 23 to October 24, 2014, with the prime target being comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This version 3.0 data set, produced by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, includes corrections from peer reviews, updated documentation, and improved handling of image quality issues.
Use Cases
Analyze cometary surface morphology and features based on calibrated wide-angle camera images.
Study temporal changes in comet 67P's activity during the pre-landing phase.
Validate and improve radiometric calibration models for space-based instruments.
Assess image data quality using the provided quality maps and documentation.
Strengths
Data is radiometrically calibrated to physical units (W/m^2/sr/nm).
Version 3.0 includes corrections from external peer reviews conducted in 2018.
Documentation includes a user guide with FAQ and data quality sections, and a bandpass filter document.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
