Description
From 2014-10-24 to 2014-11-21, the Rosetta spacecraft's OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera acquired radiometrically calibrated image data of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This CODMAC level 3 dataset, version 3.0, is provided by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and supersedes previous deliveries with updated documentation and quality improvements.
Use Cases
Analyzing comet surface morphology and features based on calibrated wide-angle camera imagery.
Studying cometary activity and outgassing patterns over the pre-landing mission phase.
Validating and improving radiometric calibration models for space-based instruments.
Conducting temporal analysis of comet 67P's appearance during the specified observation period.
Strengths
Data is radiometrically calibrated to physical units (W/m^2/sr/nm).
Version 3.0 includes corrections from external peer reviews and improved handling of image artifacts.
Coverage is for a defined 28-day period during a critical mission phase.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
