Description
OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera image data from the ROSETTA EXTENSION 1 mission phase, covering the period from 2016-01-12 to 2016-02-09. This CODMAC level 4 dataset contains solar stray light corrected, radiometric calibrated, and geometric distortion corrected images of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, measured in W/m^2/sr/nm. The dataset is version V1.0, produced by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration after an external peer review in October 2018.
Use Cases
Analyzing comet surface brightness and albedo based on radiometrically calibrated image data.
Studying temporal changes in comet 67P's activity and morphology during the specified mission phase.
Developing or validating image processing algorithms for solar stray light correction in space imagery.
Conducting photometric studies using the corrected intensity values provided in W/m^2/sr/nm.
Strengths
Data has undergone multiple correction processes including solar stray light removal, radiometric calibration, and geometric distortion correction.
Covers a specific 28-day observation period from 2016-01-12 to 2016-02-09, providing a focused temporal snapshot.
Dataset is version V1.0 and has passed an external peer review process conducted in October 2018.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment for large-scale processing.
