Description
Solar stray light corrected, radiometric calibrated, and geometric distortion corrected image data in reflectance units. The data was acquired by the OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft during the ROSETTA EXTENSION 1 mission phase from 2016-02-09 to 2016-03-08, targeting comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This version V1.0 is the first version of this dataset, corrected after an October 2018 PSA/PDS external peer review.
Use Cases
Analyze comet surface albedo and reflectance properties based on the normalized reflectance units.
Train computer vision models for feature detection on comet surfaces based on the geometric distortion corrected image data.
Study temporal changes on the comet's surface during the specified mission phase based on the date range provided.
Validate remote sensing calibration and correction pipelines based on the described solar stray light and radiometric corrections.
Strengths
Data has undergone multiple processing steps: solar stray light correction, radiometric calibration, and geometric distortion correction.
Covers a defined temporal range from 2016-02 09T23:25:00.000 to 2016-03-08T23:24:59.000.
Dataset is versioned (V1.0) and has undergone an external peer review process as noted in the description.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
