Description
OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera images of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, corrected for stray light and radiometrically calibrated. The dataset contains processed image data in W/m^2/sr/nm, acquired by the Rosetta spacecraft during its extended mission from March 8 to April 5, 2016. This version 1.0 data was produced by NASA following an external peer review in September 2019.
Use Cases
Analyze comet surface morphology and activity based on calibrated wide-angle images
Study temporal changes in comet 67P's coma and jets during the specified mission phase
Validate or develop radiometric calibration models for space camera data
Perform photometric analysis of comet nuclei using the stray-light corrected radiance values
Strengths
Data is corrected for multiple artifacts: solar stray-light, in-field stray-light, and geometric distortion
Images are radiometrically calibrated with physical units (W/m^2/sr/nm)
Covers a defined observation period from 2016 03 08 to 2016 04 05
Dataset has undergone external peer review as part of the PSA/PDS process
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
