Description
From March 8 to April 5, 2016, the OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft acquired this set of calibrated image data. The data is solar stray light corrected, radiometrically calibrated, and geometrically distortion corrected, presented in reflectance units. It was produced by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, with this version being the first release following an external peer review in October 2018.
Use Cases
Analyze comet surface albedo and reflectance properties based on the calibrated reflectance data
Study the morphology and geological features of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko based on the corrected image data
Model solar illumination and stray light effects in deep-space imagery based on the correction processes described
Validate remote sensing algorithms for small body exploration based on the peer-reviewed, calibrated dataset
Strengths
Data is corrected for solar stray light, radiometrically calibrated, and geometrically distortion corrected, indicating a high level of processing
Covers a specific temporal range from 2016-03-08T23:25:00.000 to 2016 04-05T23:24:59.000
Dataset version V1.0 is the result of an external peer review conducted in October 2018
