Description
NASA's OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera captured calibrated reflectance images of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko from April 5 to May 3, 2016. This dataset contains solar stray light corrected, radiometric calibrated, and geometric distortion corrected image data. It is the first version (V1.0) of this dataset, corrected after an October 2018 external peer review.
Use Cases
Analyzing comet surface reflectance based on calibrated reflectance units.
Studying geometric features of comet 67P based on distortion corrected image data.
Investigating temporal changes on the comet's surface during the April-May 2016 observation period.
Validating remote sensing models using solar stray light corrected imagery.
Strengths
Data is radiometric calibrated and geometric distortion corrected.
Coverage spans a defined period from 2016-04-05T23:25:00.000 to 2016-05-03T23:25:00.000.
Dataset underwent an external peer review and correction process in October 2018.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
