Description
Radiometric calibrated and geometric distortion corrected image data in W/m^2/sr/nm, acquired by the OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft. The data covers the period from 2016-04-05 to 2016-05-03, with the prime target being comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This V2.0 dataset from NASA supersedes previous versions with corrected data, updated documentation, and improved handling of image quality issues.
Use Cases
Analyze comet surface morphology and activity based on calibrated wide-angle camera imagery.
Study temporal changes on the comet's surface based on data from the specified 2016 time range.
Perform photometric analysis based on radiometrically calibrated data in W/m^2/sr/nm.
Validate or improve image processing algorithms based on documented corrections for geometric distortion and image quality issues.
Strengths
Data is radiometrically calibrated to physical units (W/m^2/sr/nm) and corrected for geometric distortion.
Version V2.0 includes corrections from an external peer review and updated documentation, including a bandpass filter document.
Specific time range is provided, covering observations from 2016-04-05 to 2016-05-03.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data may reflect temporal bias inherent to the specific 2016 mission phase.
