Description
OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera images of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, radiometrically calibrated and geometrically corrected, covering the period from May 3 to May 31, 2016. This V2.0 dataset from NASA incorporates corrections from an external peer review, updated documentation, and improved handling of data quality issues. Data is provided in calibrated physical units of W/m^2/sr/nm.
Use Cases
Analyze comet surface albedo and photometric properties based on radiometrically calibrated image data.
Study temporal changes in comet 67P's activity and morphology during the May 2016 observation period.
Validate geometric correction and image resampling algorithms for planetary science data.
Investigate image quality and instrument performance issues documented in the updated headers and guides.
Strengths
Data is calibrated to physical units (W/m^2/sr/nm), enabling quantitative scientific analysis.
Version V2.0 incorporates corrections from an October 2018 external peer review, suggesting improved accuracy.
Documentation includes a user guide with FAQ and image quality sections, and a bandpass filter document.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
