Description
OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera image data from the Rosetta spacecraft's EXTENSION 3 mission phase, covering the period from 2016-07-26T23:25:00.000 to 2016-08 09T23:24:59.000. This CODMAC level 4 dataset contains radiometric calibrated and geometric distortion corrected images in reflectance units, targeting comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. The dataset is version V1.0, produced by NASA after an external peer review in October 2018.
Use Cases
Analyzing comet surface features and morphology based on calibrated reflectance imagery.
Studying temporal changes in comet 67P's activity and surface based on the specified two-week observation period.
Developing and testing image processing algorithms for planetary remote sensing data.
Training machine learning models for automated feature detection on cometary surfaces.
Strengths
Data is radiometric calibrated and geometric distortion corrected (CODMAC level 4).
Covers a defined two-week observation period from July to August 2016.
Dataset version V1.0 indicates a formal, peer-reviewed release process.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
