Description
NASA's ROSETTA-ORBITER 67P OSIWAC 4 EXT3-MTP033 RDR-INF-REFL V1.0 dataset contains solar and in-field stray-light corrected, radiometrically calibrated, and geometrically distortion corrected image data in reflectance units. The data was acquired by the OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft during the ROSETTA EXTENSION 3 mission phase from 2016-08-09 to 2016-09-02, targeting comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This version V1.0 is the first version, corrected after an external peer review in September 2019.
Use Cases
Analyze comet surface morphology and albedo variations based on calibrated reflectance imagery.
Study temporal changes on the comet's surface during the specified mission phase.
Validate or train image processing algorithms for stray-light and geometric correction based on the described preprocessing steps.
Conduct photometric analysis of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko based on normalized reflectance data.
Strengths
Data is processed to CODMAC level 4, indicating solar stray-light corrected, in-field stray-light corrected, radiometrically calibrated, and geometrically distortion corrected.
Covers a specific temporal range from 2016-08 09T23:25:00.000 to 2016-09-02T06:39:59.000.
Produced by NASA, an authoritative source for space science data.
Dataset version V1.0 incorporates corrections from an external peer review conducted in September 2019.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality and specific file formats require manual inspection after download.
