Description
OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera images from the Rosetta spacecraft, radiometrically calibrated and geometrically corrected to reflectance units. This dataset covers a 24-day period from September 2 to 26, 2016, with the prime target being comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. It is the first version (V1.0) of this CODMAC level 4 dataset, corrected after an external peer review in October 2018.
Use Cases
Analyzing surface albedo and reflectance properties of the comet based on calibrated reflectance data.
Studying temporal changes in cometary activity and surface features during the September 2016 observation period.
Training computer vision models for automated feature detection on planetary bodies based on corrected image data.
Validating geometric models of the comet's shape and topography using distortion-corrected images.
Strengths
Data is radiometrically calibrated and geometrically distortion-corrected to reflectance units.
Covers a specific 24-day observation period from 2016-09 02 to 2016-09-26.
Dataset version V1.0 incorporates corrections from an October 2018 external peer review.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file formats are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
