Description
Solar stray light corrected, radiometric calibrated, and geometric distortion corrected image data in reflectance units acquired by the OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft. The dataset covers the period from 2014-01 20T10:00:00.000 to 2014-05-07T12:47:59.000 during the PRELANDING mission phase, with the prime target being comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This V1.0 dataset is the first version, produced by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration following an external peer review.
Use Cases
Analyze comet surface morphology and albedo variations based on calibrated reflectance data.
Study temporal changes in comet 67P's activity during the prelanding approach phase.
Validate and train image processing algorithms for spaceborne camera data based on the described stray light and geometric corrections.
Conduct photometric studies of cometary nuclei using the normalized reflectance units.
Strengths
Data has undergone multiple processing steps: solar stray light correction, radiometric calibration, and geometric distortion correction.
Covers a defined time range from 2014-01-20 to 2014-05-07 during a specific mission phase (PRELANDING).
Version V1.0 indicates a peer-reviewed, corrected release following an October 2018 external review.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
