Description
Solar stray-light corrected, radiometric calibrated image data in W/m^2/sr/nm acquired by the OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft. The dataset covers the period from 2014 05 07 to 2014 06 04, targeting comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This V1.0 dataset is the first version from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, corrected after a 2019 external peer review.
Use Cases
Analyze comet surface brightness and albedo variations based on radiometric calibrated image data.
Study the evolution of comet 67P's coma and nucleus features during the pre-landing mission phase.
Validate or train image correction algorithms for stray-light removal using the provided corrected data.
Perform photometric analysis of cometary activity using the calibrated radiance units (W/m^2/sr/nm).
Strengths
Data has undergone multiple correction stages: solar stray-light, in-field stray-light, radiometric, and geometric distortion correction.
Covers a defined pre-landing mission phase from 2014-05-07 to 2014-06-04, providing temporal context.
Version V1.0 indicates a peer-reviewed, corrected release following an external review in September 2019.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file formats are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
