Description
From July 2 to August 1, 2014, this dataset contains radiometrically calibrated and geometrically corrected image data in W/m^2/sr/nm, acquired by the OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft. The data targets comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko and is a CODMAC level 4 product from NASA, with version V2.0 incorporating updates from an external peer review.
Use Cases
Analyze comet surface morphology and features based on calibrated wide-angle images.
Study temporal changes in comet activity during the pre-landing phase.
Validate or improve photometric models using radiometrically calibrated data.
Assess image quality and instrument performance using documented shutter and readout issue maps.
Strengths
Data is radiometrically calibrated to physical units (W/m^2/sr/nm) and geometrically corrected.
Covers a defined one-month observation period from 2014-07 02 to 2014-08-01.
Version V2.0 includes updates from an October 2018 external peer review and improved handling of images with missing packets.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
