Description
Processed image data from the OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft, targeting comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. The dataset contains solar stray-light corrected, radiometrically calibrated, and geometrically distortion corrected images in reflectance units. This version 1.0 dataset covers the period from August 1 to September 2, 2014, and was produced by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
Use Cases
Analyze comet surface morphology and albedo variations based on calibrated reflectance imagery.
Study temporal changes in comet activity during the pre-landing mission phase.
Train machine learning models for feature detection on celestial bodies using corrected image data.
Validate geometric correction and radiometric calibration algorithms for spaceborne instruments.
Strengths
Data is processed to CODMAC level 4, indicating solar stray-light corrected, in-field stray-light corrected, radiometric calibrated, and geometric distortion corrected images.
Covers a defined temporal range from 2014-08-01T10:00:00.000 to 2014-09 02T09:59:59.000.
Dataset version is specified as V1.0, the first version following a September 2019 external peer review.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count, file formats, and data size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
