Description
Radiometric calibrated and geometric distortion corrected image data in W/m^2/sr/nm, acquired by the OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft. The dataset covers the period from 2014-09-02T10:00:00.000 to 2014-09-23T09:59:59.000, targeting comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This version V2.0 data set, provided by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, includes updates from an external peer review and improved handling of image quality issues.
Use Cases
Analyzing cometary surface morphology and features based on calibrated wide-angle images.
Studying temporal changes in comet 67P's activity during the pre-landing mission phase.
Validating and comparing image processing algorithms using radiometrically calibrated data.
Assessing image data quality using the documented shutter backtravel and readout issue maps.
Strengths
Data is radiometrically calibrated to physical units (W/m^2/sr/nm).
Geometric distortion has been corrected and images are resampled.
Version V2.0 incorporates corrections from an October 2018 external peer review.
Documentation includes a user guide with FAQ and data quality sections, and a bandpass filter document.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
