Description
OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera images of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, radiometrically calibrated and geometrically corrected to units of W/m^2/sr/nm. NASA produced this CODMAC level 4 dataset covering the prelanding mission phase from September 23 to October 24, 2014. Version 2.0 incorporates corrections from a 2018 peer review, updated documentation, and improved handling of image quality issues.
Use Cases
Analyze comet surface albedo and reflectance properties based on radiometrically calibrated image data.
Study temporal changes in comet 67P's activity and morphology during the prelanding phase.
Validate or develop geometric correction models for spacecraft imagery using the distortion-corrected data.
Assess image quality and instrument performance using the documented shutter and readout issue maps.
Strengths
Data is at CODMAC level 4, indicating radiometric calibration and geometric correction have been applied.
Coverage is for a defined prelanding mission phase from 2014-09-23 to 2014-10-24.
Version 2.0 includes updates from an external peer review and enhanced documentation on data quality.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
