Description
Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko is the prime target of this dataset. It contains solar stray light corrected, radiometric calibrated, and geometric distortion corrected image data in reflectance units, acquired by the OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration produced this data covering the period from 2014 -10-24 to 2014-11-21.
Use Cases
Analyze cometary surface morphology and albedo based on calibrated reflectance images.
Train machine learning models for feature detection on comet surfaces using processed image data.
Study temporal changes on a comet's nucleus based on images from a defined mission phase.
Validate geometric correction and radiometric calibration algorithms for space instrument data.
Strengths
Data is corrected for solar stray light, radiometrically calibrated, and geometrically distortion corrected.
Covers a defined mission phase from 2014-10-24 to 2014-11-21.
Produced by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and is a CODMAC level 4 dataset, indicating a processed science product.
