Description
OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera images of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, georeferenced with pixel precision. This dataset contains derived data products from the ROSETTA EXTENSION 2 mission phase, covering observations from April 5 to May 3, 2016. The data is version V1.0, a corrected release following an external peer review in October 2018, and originates from NASA.
Use Cases
Generate precise surface maps of comet 67P based on pixel-precise georeferencing information.
Analyze temporal changes on the comet's surface during the specified 2016 observation period.
Train computer vision models for automated feature detection in cometary imagery.
Validate or correlate findings from other Rosetta instrument datasets using georeferenced image coordinates.
Strengths
Includes pixel-precise georeferencing information for accurate spatial analysis.
Covers a defined temporal range from 2016-04 05 to 2016-05-03, providing a focused observational snapshot.
Dataset is version V1.0, indicating a corrected release after an external peer review process.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment for large-scale ML tasks.
