Description
Derived data products from the OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft, providing pixel-precise georeferencing information for comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. The dataset covers observations from June 28 to July 26, 2016, during the ROSETTA EXTENSION 3 mission phase. This version V1.0 is the first version, corrected after an October 2018 external peer review.
Use Cases
Generate precise surface maps of comet 67P based on the pixel-precise georeferencing information.
Analyze temporal changes in comet surface features during the 2016 observation period.
Validate or refine orbital and shape models of comet 67P using the georeferenced camera data.
Support machine learning tasks for automated feature detection on cometary surfaces.
Strengths
Data is georeferenced with pixel-precise accuracy, enabling high-fidelity spatial analysis.
Covers a defined one-month observation period from 2016-06 28 to 2016-07-26.
Dataset has undergone an external peer review process, as indicated by the post-review correction.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
