Description
ROSETTA-ORBITER 67P ROSINA 2 PRL V2.0 contains CODMAC level 2 science data from the Rosetta mission's Prelanding phase at comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko. The data was acquired by the COPS, DFMS, and RTOF sensors on the ROSINA instrument between March 29 and November 18, 2014. Version 2.0 was produced by NASA, adding previously missing DFMS PDS files and removing corrupted ones.
Use Cases
Modeling comet outgassing rates based on time-series sensor measurements.
Analyzing the chemical composition of comet 67P/CG based on mass spectrometry data.
Studying temporal variations in the comet's coma during the Prelanding mission phase.
Calibrating or validating sensor performance models for the ROSINA instrument suite.
Strengths
Data is from a major interplanetary mission (Rosetta) to a well-studied comet.
Covers a defined 8-month time range during a critical mission phase (Prelanding).
Version 2.0 indicates curation, with missing files added and corrupted data removed.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data may reflect temporal bias inherent to the specific Prelanding observation window.
