Description
Science data from the ROSINA COPS sensor on the Rosetta mission to comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko. The data was acquired between 2016-01-13 and 2016-04-05 during the mission's Extension phase 1. Version 2.0 adds detections of minor species including CH4, NH3, HCN, H2CO, C2H6, CH3OH, H2S, C2H5OH, OCS, and CS2 by the DFMS instrument.
Use Cases
Modeling comet 67P's coma composition based on detected gas species.
Analyzing temporal changes in outgassing during the mission's Extension phase 1.
Comparing the abundance of minor species like methanol and hydrogen cyanide to major volatiles.
Validating mass spectrometry instrument performance for the ROSINA COPS and DFMS sensors.
Strengths
Data originates from the Rosetta mission, a major European Space Agency planetary science endeavor.
Version 2.0 explicitly adds detections for 10 specific minor chemical species.
Covers a defined time range from 2016-01-13 to 2016-04-05.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment for large-scale analysis.
