Description
ROSINA COPS sensor data from the Rosetta mission's Prelanding phase at comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko between March 29, 2014 and November 18, 2014. The dataset contains CODMAC level 4 science data, with version 2.0 adding minor species detected by DFMS. The data was produced by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
Use Cases
Analyze the abundance of major gases in comet 67P based on COPS sensor data
Study the temporal evolution of minor species like methane and ammonia during the Prelanding phase
Model comet outgassing rates using the detected gas concentrations
Compare the composition of comet 67P with other cometary bodies
Strengths
Data covers a defined mission phase from March 29, 2014 to November 18, 2014
Version 2.0 includes specific minor species: CH4, NH3, HCN, H2CO, C2H6, CH3OH, H2S, C2H5OH, OCS, CS2
Data is classified as CODMAC level 4, indicating processed science data
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
