Description
ROSETTA-ORBITER 67P RPCMIP 3 PRL1 V3.0 contains data from the RPC-MIP instrument onboard the Rosetta Orbiter. The data was acquired during the PRELANDING mission phase between January 21, 2014, and July 22, 2014, with comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko as the primary target. This dataset conforms to Planetary Data System Standards Version 3.6 and was produced by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
Use Cases
Analyze plasma and magnetic field interactions with comet 67P based on the RPC-MIP instrument data.
Study temporal changes in the cometary environment during the prelanding mission phase.
Validate and compare instrument readings against other Rosetta mission datasets.
Model solar wind and cometary ionosphere dynamics using the documented experiment parameters.
Strengths
Data conforms to the documented Planetary Data System Standards, Version 3.6.
Covers a specific 6-month mission phase from 2014-01-21 to 2014-07-22.
Includes documentation describing the RPC-MIP experiment.
Dataset version is V3.0, updated after a Science Review.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data may reflect temporal bias inherent to the specific prelanding mission window.
