Description
NASA's ROSETTA orbiter magnetometer (RPCMAG) dataset contains edited raw data from the prelanding phase around comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. The data covers observations from March 23, 2014, to November 21, 2014, and is provided as CODMAC Level 2 data. This version, V9.0, includes updates to documentation and quality flagging for consistency with calibrated datasets.
Use Cases
Modeling the comet's magnetic environment based on raw magnetometer readings.
Studying temporal variations in magnetic field strength during the prelanding orbital phase.
Calibrating and validating sensor temperature models using the updated raw data stream.
Investigating magnetic disturbance sources near comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.
Strengths
Data covers a defined 8-month prelanding phase from March to November 2014.
Version V9.0 features improved documentation on magnetic disturbance sources and data handling.
Dataset is part of a coordinated update ensuring all data products (raw, calibrated, resampled) are at the same processing stage.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
