Description
CSIRO Oceans & Atmosphere Data Centre archives underway data from the RV Investigator voyage IN2015_C02, a Great Australian Bight ecosystem study. The dataset includes navigation, thermosalinograph, and atmospheric measurements recorded at 5-second intervals between November 30 and December 22, 2015. Data is available in NetCDF and CSV formats via the Australian Ocean Data Network.
Use Cases
Modeling ocean currents and vessel tracks based on GPS navigation data.
Analyzing water mass properties based on salinity, temperature, and pCO2 measurements.
Studying atmospheric-ocean coupling based on wind, humidity, and air temperature data.
Investigating phytoplankton dynamics based on fluorescence data.
Strengths
Data recorded at a high temporal resolution of 5-second intervals.
Covers a defined 23-day voyage period from November 30 to December 22, 2015.
Includes a multi-faceted suite of navigation, oceanographic, and atmospheric variables.
Processed and archived by the CSIRO Oceans & Atmosphere Data Centre, an authoritative institution.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data may reflect geographic and temporal bias inherent to the single voyage.
