Description
Multibeam echosounder data from RV Investigator voyage IN2018_V04, collected between 11 September and 8 October 2018. The Kongsberg EM710 MKII system acquired seafloor bathymetry, backscatter, and watercolumn backscatter data across a nominal frequency range of 40 to 100 kHz. The dataset comprises 23 raw files totalling 11.1 GB, with processed data available in multiple formats.
Use Cases
Generate high-resolution seafloor maps based on processed bathymetry grids.
Analyze seafloor composition and texture based on backscatter information.
Study water column acoustic targets based on watercolumn backscatter data.
Conduct geospatial analysis of marine features based on processed data in GeoTIFF format.
Strengths
Data acquisition applied sound velocity profiles and corrected for motion and position.
Processed data has had outliers removed and is available in multiple formats including GeoTIFF and ASCII.
Dataset contains 23 files totalling 11.1 GB of raw data.
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
The application of tide corrections to the processed data is ambiguously stated as '[were/were not] applied'.
