Description
Antarctic shelf-break region multibeam echosounder data collected on RV Investigator voyage IN2021_V01 from January to March 2021. The dataset contains 47 files totalling 15.82GB of raw data, providing seafloor bathymetry, backscatter, and watercolumn backscatter information. Data were processed by CSIRO, corrected for motion and position, and reduced to Mean Sea Level using the EGM2008 model.
Use Cases
Mapping seafloor bathymetry based on processed bathymetry grids in geotiff format.
Analyzing seafloor composition based on backscatter information collected by the echosounder.
Assessing watercolumn acoustic properties based on watercolumn backscatter data stored in .wcd format.
Evaluating mooring deployment sites based on data collected in specific Antarctic shelf-break locations.
Strengths
Data totals 15.82GB across 47 files, indicating substantial raw data volume.
Bathymetry data are corrected for motion and position and reduced to Mean Sea Level using the EGM2008 model.
Processed data is available in multiple formats including .gsf, ascii, and geotiff for flexibility.
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
