Description
CSIRO's Marine National Facility RV Investigator voyage IN2023_V05 collected an End of Voyage (EOV) data archive. The voyage, titled 'Untangling the causes of change over 25 years in the southeast marine ecosystem (SEA-MES Voyage 1)', took place from June 28, 2023 to July 30, 2023, departing from and returning to Hobart. The archive includes data from instruments like CTD, ADCP, echosounders, greenhouse gas analyzers, plankton samplers, and environmental DNA (eDNA) collectors.
Use Cases
Modeling ocean currents and water column properties based on ADCP and CTD data mentioned in the description.
Analyzing marine biodiversity and plankton communities based on Continuous Plankton Recorder (CPR) and eDNA data mentioned in the description.
Studying seafloor topography and sub-bottom structure based on Multibeam Echosounder and Sub-bottom Profiler data mentioned in the description.
Investigating ocean-atmosphere gas exchange based on Greenhouse Gas Analyser and pCO2 sensor data mentioned in the description.
Conducting fisheries acoustics research based on Fisheries Echosounder (EK60, EK80) data mentioned in the description.
Strengths
Data collected during a dedicated 33-day research voyage with a specific scientific objective.
Archive includes a wide array of over 30 instrument types, suggesting comprehensive environmental sampling.
Data is permanently archived and curated by the CSIRO National Collections and Marine Infrastructure Information and Data Centre.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
