Description
Southeast Australian marine ecosystem data collected by the RV Investigator between November 13 and December 12, 2024. Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) data were gathered using 150kHz, 75kHz, and 38kHz instruments in narrowband mode, processed with the CODAS system. The dataset was archived by CSIRO's National Collections and Marine Infrastructure Information and Data Centre.
Use Cases
Modeling ocean current profiles based on multi-frequency ADCP measurements
Analyzing temporal changes in water column structure during a fisheries survey voyage
Calibrating acoustic instruments using the documented bottom-tracking data
Studying vessel interference patterns between ADCP and EK80 echosounder systems
Strengths
Data collected over a 30-day voyage in a defined marine ecosystem study area
Processed using the documented Common Ocean Data Access System (CODAS)
Includes data from three ADCP instruments (150kHz, 75kHz, 38kHz) for potential cross-validation
Limitations
ADCP acquisition was interrupted for long periods to avoid interference with EK80 surveys
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count and data volume are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
Provenance
Source
Australian Ocean Data Network via CSIRO National Collections and Marine Infrastructure
Collection Method
Collected using the University of Hawaii Data Acquisition System (UHDAS) on the RV Investigator
Time Range
November 13, 2024 to December 12, 2024
