Description
Coral Sea Marine Park data from 41 CTD deployments collected by the RV Investigator between October 10 and November 14, 2025. The data were processed and archived by CSIRO's National Collections and Marine Infrastructure Information and Data Centre. Measurements include conductivity, temperature, depth, dissolved oxygen, fluorescence, chlorophyll, and turbidity.
Use Cases
Analyzing deep-sea biodiversity patterns based on CTD-derived environmental parameters.
Studying water column structure and oceanographic processes based on conductivity, temperature, and depth profiles.
Modeling marine ecosystem health based on chlorophyll, fluorescence, and turbidity sensor data.
Calibrating oceanographic models based on the described sensor calibration and quality control procedures.
Strengths
Data from 41 separate CTD deployments provides multiple sampling points.
Specific calibration metrics are provided, including a conductivity standard deviation of 0.0025203 PSU.
Multiple auxiliary sensors were installed, measuring PAR, altimeter, fluorescence, transmissometer, chlorophyll, and turbidity.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
The final conductivity calibration had a standard deviation marginally outside the target of 'better than 0.002 PSU'.
Provenance
