Description
Voyage data from the RV Investigator's transit voyage IN2026_T01 between Hobart and Fremantle. The archive contains raw data from over 30 instruments measuring ocean currents, greenhouse gases, particle counts, seafloor bathymetry, and wildlife observations. The archive is curated by CSIRO's National Collections and Marine Infrastructure Information and Data Centre and was updated in April 2026.
Use Cases
Analyze ocean current profiles using data from the Lowered ADCP (LADCP) and Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP).
Study greenhouse gas concentrations and air-sea exchange with measurements from Picarro analyzers and pCO2 sensors.
Map seafloor topography and sub-bottom layers using data from the Multibeam Echosounder (EM712, EM124, EM2040) and Sub-bottom Profiler (SBP29).
Investigate atmospheric aerosol properties using Cloud Condensation Nuclei (CCN), Condensation Particle Counters (CPC), and Nephelometer readings.
Correlate biological activity with environmental conditions using Fisheries Echosounder (EK80) data, Fluorometer readings, and Wildlife Observations.
Strengths
Data collected from over 30 specialized oceanographic and atmospheric instruments.
Voyage provides a coordinated snapshot of multiple marine systems over a defined 9-day period in March 2026.
Limitations
Sample size and temporal coverage are limited to a single 9-day transit voyage.
The raw data archive format (PNG, HTML) suggests processed data may be in separate systems, requiring additional access steps.
Provenance
Source
CSIRO National Collections and Marine Infrastructure (NCMI) Information and Data Centre (IDC), via the Australian Ocean Data Network.
Collection Method
Instrument measurements collected during the RV Investigator marine research voyage IN2026_T01.
Time Range
March 06, 2026 to March 14, III (AEST).
Freshness
Data from a voyage in March 2026, with archive metadata updated in April 2026.
Geography
Marine transit route from Hobart to Fremantle, Australia.
Raw data access may require application via [email protected] for non-CSIRO participants; processed data is available through the separate MNF Data Trawler platform.
