Description
One month of oceanographic and atmospheric data collected by the RV Investigator between March 17 and April 17, 2026, off the Ningaloo Coast. The archive includes measurements from over 30 instruments, such as Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers, CTDs, echosounders, and greenhouse gas analyzers. The CSIRO National Collections and Marine Infrastructure Information and Data Centre curates the raw data, with processed data available via the Marine National Facility Data Trawler.
Use Cases
Modeling fine-scale ocean currents and water column properties based on ADCP and CTD data.
Analyzing marine biodiversity and species distribution based on Environmental DNA (eDNA) and wildlife observation records.
Studying aerosol composition and cloud formation processes based on data from the Aerosol Chemical Speciation Monitor and Cloud Condensation Nuclei counter.
Mapping seafloor topography and sub-bottom geology based on multibeam echosounder and sub-bottom profiler data.
Investigating air-sea gas exchange and carbon cycling based on pCO2 and greenhouse gas analyzer measurements.
Strengths
Data collection spanned one month from March 17 to April 17, 2026, providing a continuous time series.
Over 30 distinct instrument types were deployed, capturing a wide range of physical, chemical, and biological parameters.
Raw data is permanently archived by the CSIRO Data Access Portal, and processed data is made publicly available.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and dataset size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment for large-scale ML tasks.
The description metadata is limited to instrument lists; actual data quality and completeness require manual inspection.
Provenance
Source
CSIRO National Collections and Marine Infrastructure (NCMI) Information and Data Centre (IDC) via the Marine National Facility.
Collection Method
Collected during the RV Investigator voyage IN2026_V02 using a suite of over 30 oceanographic and atmospheric instruments.
Time Range
March 17, 2026 to April 17, 2026 (AEST).
