Description
An archive of End of Voyage (EOV) data from the RV Investigator voyage IN2026_V03, titled 'SOTS: Southern Ocean Time Series automated moorings for climate and carbon cycle studies southwest of Tasmania.' The voyage occurred between May 14, 2026 and May 22, 2026, departing and returning to Hobart. Data was collected by the CSIRO National Collections and Marine Infrastructure Information and Data Centre and is archived at the CSIRO Data Access Portal.
Use Cases
Analyze ocean currents and water column structure based on Lowered ADCP and CTD measurements.
Study greenhouse gas fluxes and atmospheric composition based on Picarro analyzers and Radon sensors.
Investigate plankton distribution and marine biodiversity based on Continuous Plankton Recorder and eDNA samples.
Map seafloor topography and sub-bottom features based on Multibeam Echosounder and Sub-bottom Profiler data.
Monitor meteorological conditions and sea surface properties based on the suite of atmospheric and oceanographic sensors.
Strengths
Data collection spans a specific voyage period from May 14 to May 22, 2026.
Archive includes over 30 distinct instrument types, covering physical, chemical, biological, and atmospheric oceanography.
Data is curated by CSIRO's National Collections and Marine Infrastructure Information and Data Centre, a recognized authority.
Processed data is made publicly available through the Marine National Facility Data Trawler.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and dataset size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
The raw data archive access may be restricted to voyage participants and processors; applications for documentation are required for non-CSIRO users.
