Description
A nine-day voyage from May 14 to May 22, 2026, departing from and returning to Hobart, Tasmania. This archive contains raw data from the RV Investigator's Southern Ocean Time Series (SOTS) mission, curated by CSIRO's National Collections and Marine Infrastructure Information and Data Centre. The data includes measurements from over 30 instruments covering ocean currents, greenhouse gases, plankton, water chemistry, and atmospheric conditions.
Use Cases
Modeling ocean carbon cycles based on pCO2 and greenhouse gas analyzer measurements.
Studying marine ecosystem dynamics based on Continuous Plankton Recorder (CPR) and Environmental DNA (eDNA) data.
Analyzing ocean current profiles based on Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) data.
Investigating atmospheric aerosol interactions based on Cloud Condensation Nuclei (CCN) and particle counter data.
Mapping seafloor topography based on multibeam and sub-bottom profiler data.
Strengths
Data collected from over 30 specialized marine and atmospheric instruments during a dedicated research voyage.
Voyage-specific measurements include core Argo floats and moorings for time-series studies.
Permanently archived and accessible via the CSIRO Data Access Portal with processed data available through MNF Data Trawler.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and dataset scale are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
The raw data archive format includes PNG and HTML files, suggesting metadata or visualizations rather than primary structured data.
