A Sentinel-2 satellite image acquired on 24 February 2022 at 10:00 local time detected surface waters in Mahanoro District, Madagascar. Within the analyzed cloud-free zone of about 450 km², approximately 40 km² of land appears flooded, potentially exposing about 3,500 people based on Worldpop population data. This preliminary analysis was produced by the United Nations Satellite Centre (UNOSAT) and has not been validated in the field.
