Eight performance-based tasks scored from video-recorded discussions of preservice elementary teachers with fifth-grade student avatars. Educational Testing Service and Mursion developed these tasks over a four-year project to improve teachers' ability to orchestrate discussions in science and mathematics. The data includes scoring materials and formative feedback reports generated from the project.
Use Cases
- Analyzing teacher performance based on rubric-scored video discussions
- Developing formative feedback systems based on specific rubric indicators
- Studying the impact of simulated classroom environments on teacher development
- Comparing pre- and post-intervention performance in mathematics and science discussions
Strengths
- Scoring based on a consistent rubric applied to eight distinct tasks
- Formative feedback was returned to participants within two weeks of data collection
- Rater bias was reduced by anonymizing pre- and post-videos during summative scoring
Limitations
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
