Description
NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory Extreme Ultraviolet Variability Experiment provides Level 4 model spectra. The data consists of 1,440 spectra per UTC day, derived from ESP quadrant diode irradiance and GOES X-ray channel ratios. The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics in Boulder, Colorado created these files, which model quiet sun, active region, and flare spectrum contributions.
Use Cases
Model solar irradiance variability based on 1-minute cadence spectra
Analyze flare spectrum contributions based on the described model components
Compare solar activity models with analogous TIMED-SEE and SORCE XPS products
Study active region evolution based on derived isothermal plasma temperature
Strengths
Model spectra are produced at a 1-minute cadence
Each daily product contains 1,440 spectra
Derived from specific ESP quadrant diode and GOES X-ray channel measurements
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
File formats include BIN, PDF, HTML, which may require specialized tools
Provenance
Source
National Aeronautics and Space Administration
Collection Method
Model spectra derived from ESP quadrant diode irradiance and GOES X-ray channel ratios.
