2016 analysis identifies significant concentration areas of sea pens (Pennatulacea) in the Gulf of St. Lawrence biogeographic unit. The dataset results from kernel density estimation and random forest species distribution models applied to geo-referenced biomass data from research trawl surveys. It was produced by Fisheries and Oceans Canada to support the protection of sensitive benthic marine ecosystems.
License is ca-ogl-lgo (Open Government Licence - Canada). Primary analysis is for sea pens only; companion datasets may be needed for sponges or gorgonian corals. Requires GIS software (e.g., for SHP files) or data processing tools for the CSV format.
