Leveque Shelf Seabed Environments and Shallow Geology Survey

Geoscience Australia's May 2013 marine survey investigated the Leveque Shelf for evidence of past or present gas seepage and mapped seabed habitats. The work supports an assessment of the CO2 storage potential of the Browse Basin, identified by the Carbon Storage Taskforce in 2009. Data collection was part of the Australian Government's National CO2 Infrastructure Plan to find storage sites near major emission sources.
