A seabed mapping survey over carbonate banks and sediment plains on the Van Diemen Rise collected detailed geological and biological data. The survey obtained 100% multibeam sonar coverage across four study areas, supplemented by samples from 63 stations and 340 line-km of sub-bottom profiles. Geoscience Australia and the Australian Institute of Marine Science collaborated to investigate the region's late-Quaternary evolution and relationships between the physical environment and biota.
