A report from the Australian Ocean Data Network describes the iterative methodology for creating seascape classifications of Australia's marine region. The process uses unsupervised 'crisp' ISOClass classification in ERMapper, combining biophysical properties with consistent relationships to benthic biota. An initial validation using an alternative 'fuzzy' classification on shelf data surrounding Tasmania indicated the methodology provides consistent and reliable classes.
Data is presented as a report in PDF and HTML formats; the underlying classified geospatial data may not be directly available.
